Cognition and depression in a cohort of aging men: results from the western collaborative group study

Article Abstract:

A study of the correlations between cognitive performance and self-ratings of depression on the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (CES-D) of 1,217 aged men revealed possible correlations between emotional states-of-mind and cognitive capacities in subjects with moderate socioeconomic resources and good health. The Well-Being factor in the CES-D scale is versatile in providing accurate estimates of cognitive levels in geriatrics.
