Making the right choice on Pension survivor benefits

Article Abstract:

Fixed benefit pensions may either be a full or a reduced benefit. The former ends when the recipient dies, while the latter provides income for the surviving spouse. Before deciding which benefit to take, it is advisable to determine total assets to check finances when one or the other spouse dies.

A job is often thought to be as good as the salary it grants to employees. However, based on the experience of people who were able to find enjoyable jobs after they have retired, a good post-retirement job is one that provides an opportunity for social contact, structure and a sense of worth.
