Projections of aging: impact of generational differences and the aging process on perceptions of adults

Article Abstract:

Young adults tend to perceive other generations, particularly the older generation, differently from the way they perceive their own. Attitudes toward the older generation or age period are generally positive. A study in which young adults rate target generations on five personality attributes shows target age period effects in Openness to Experience and Conscientiousness factors. This effect results from the belief that personality changes with age. Agreeableness and Neuroticism are other personality factors that correlate with perceived aging-specific personality changes.

Training effects on dual-task performance: Are there age-related differences in plasticity of attention control?

Article Abstract:

The study examines the extent to which training can moderate age-related differences in dual-task performance with two discrimination tasks, as used in psychological refractory period studies. The results indicate that, even when two tasks require similar motor responses, both older and younger adults, could learn to perform the task faster and more accurately.
