Relationship of age and simulated flight performance

Article Abstract:

A significant relationship has been found between greater age and lower aviator performance, in a study of 100 aviators aged 50-69 with a mean age of 58 years, but age explained 22% or less of the variation in performance on different flight tasks so other factors are also important in explaining performance by older pilots. Simulated flight performance was related to to age of the pilot in the study. The pilots will be followed for at least 3 years because longitudinal study over time is necessary to get rid of possible cohort effects.

The APOE 4 allele is associated with decline on delayed recall performance in community-dwelling older adults

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to investigate whether the Apolipoprotein (APOE) allele is associated with cognitive decline in community-dwelling older adults. Researchers recruited 100 community-dwelling older adults. These individuals were between 59 and 95 years old. They were subjected to seven cognitive tests that examined verbal and spatial memory, attention, speed-of-processing, and language abilities. The findings revealed that much like other studies the APOE allele predicts decline on measures of delayed recall.

Risk left ventricular dysfunction in patients with probable Alzheimer's disease with APOE 4 allele

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to examine the link between the apolipoprotein E (APOE) genotype and cardiovascular disease in patients suffering from Alzheimer's disease (AD). A group of 100 patients aged between 59 and 91 were studied. The study revealed a higher rate of cardiovascular disease in patients with probable AD with APOE 4.
