Adult education programs are on the rise in the US as people above their 50s try to pursue new adventures in life. With people having adequate income to spend and ample leisure time to spare, a number of lessons about swimming, flying airplanes and music are being offered in institutions.

An inviting new IRA

Elderly people are allowed tax-free withdrawals from their contributions under the new Roth individual retirement accounts (IRA). The Roth IRA, authored by Senator William Roth under the Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997, allows after-tax contributions and eventually, will be tax-free.
