Vascular compliance as a measure of biological age

Article Abstract:

Deviation from the age-predicted norm in biological age may turn out to be a good predictor of cardiovascular pathology because there is a close relationship between chronological age and aortic and carotid compliance. Vascular compliance has been studied by reviewing 22 studies to see which measure is most closely related to biological age. Vascular compliance was found to be more closely related to chronological age than other measures, among them greying of hair, baldness, or skin inelasticity.

The relationship between androgens and Arterial stiffness in older men

Article Abstract:

The mechanism of hormone/cardiovascular interaction is uncertain in elderly men, and their testosterone levels show an inverse relationship with radiographic aortic calcification score. The known association between lower androgenicity, and increased cardiovascular risk in men can be stated by altered vascular stiffness.
