Driving and vision in an aging society

Article Abstract:

Due to the decline of vision and other sensory and response faculties, older drivers are much more prone to accidents. Since older drivers represent one of the most hazardous yet fastest growing group of drivers, empirically justifiable and equitable set of vision standards are called for.

Balance and falls among older people

Article Abstract:

The increased vulnerability of older people to loss of balance causing falls is discussed. This is attributed to the functional decline and impairment of sensory and integrative systems in older adults.
