Hassles on the job: a study of a job intervention with urban bus drivers

Article Abstract:

The conclusion that bus driving in an urban area poses serious health risks and is extremely stressful is borne out by psychophysiological, epidemiological and survey data. A work environment intervention designed to ease bus operation, lessen passenger demands on drivers and ease traffic congestion has been shown to reduce job hassles while operating buses. In addition, the results showed that reduction of on-the-job hassles is predictive of multiple indices of stress in a longitudinal study.

Estimating the benefits of a quality circle intervention

Article Abstract:

Organizations use quality circles to elicit business-related ideas from their employees. A small group of five to 10 employees and a supervisor may comprise a circle that meets to discuss and propose ways of solving job-related problems. The study of a bank's quality circle program shows that this management technique provides financial benefits to the company.
