Managing the university third strand innovation process? Developing innovation support services in regionally engaged universities

Article Abstract:

An innovation framework is used to explore how universities creatively develop innovation support services and how they can improve that development process to increase their territorial impacts. Treating universities as the knowledge intensive business services (KIBS) offers interesting possibilities for understanding the creation and transfer of best-practice ideas between institutions.

Radio frequency identification (RFID) is receiving renewed attention in view of the recent consumer privacy concerns. The present state of RFID, its potential technology benefits, privacy concerns and the role of the government in supporting and/or restricting the development of the technology are reviewed.

The way in which the large and small entity inventors respond to the U.S patenting process is described.A framework of the patenting process events and activities related to success is developed with a factor analysis revealing similarities and differences in the priorities of the two groups.
