Patent statistics in the age of globalization: new legal procedures, new analytical methods, new economic interpretation

Article Abstract:

Patent analysis has become more complex as many multinational companies have have established global operations covering several countries. This makes the assignment of a 'country of invention' difficult and requires changes to traditional patenting procedures. Thus, patent statistics have to adjust in the preparation of patent documents, the application of economic 'filters' to compare patent office data and the use of an amended Patent Cooperation Treaty.

Commuters and the regional assignment of innovative activities: a methodological patent study of German districts
