Proposal of a benefit incidence matrix for urban development projects

Article Abstract:

A benefit incidence matrix was developed to represent the structure of benefit incidence from different urban development projects that have an impact on environmental quality, such as slum clearance, park development, urban transportation and urban renewal. Beneficiaries and cost sharers are expressed by columns while the items of benefits and costs are expressed by rows.

Does history matter for urban primacy? The case of Vienna

Article Abstract:

The impact of history and path dependence on city growth is investigated. The break-up of Austria-Hungary in 1918 is used to analyze the impact of 85% reduction in country size and population on the largest city in the former Habsburg Empire, Vienna.
