Retirement plan success story

Article Abstract:

The 17-year-old Housing-Renewal and Local Agency Retirement Plan has participants from 200 authorities in 22 states, and represents over 4,000 employees showing retirement balances in excess of $60,000,000. Participating authorities all make contributions on employees' behalf, and there are three ways in which employees can make their own contributions. Plans are individualized to meet authority and employee needs. Assets are grouped to gain favorable financial leverage in investment return, administrative costs, and annuity purchase rates. The equity fund is invested in an Equitable Life Assurance Society account.

Descriptions of job characteristics and retirement activities during the transition to retirement

Article Abstract:

A study was made to reveal the expectations of older employees on their activities and situations after their retirements. Although a slight consistency was noted between pre- and post-retirement reports, it was shown that retirees engaged in some activities less frequently than they expected when they were still employed.
