Sexually transmitted disease and gender roles: An index of cultural evolution

Article Abstract:

The relationship between the spread of HIV/AIDS and several parameters of a nation's demography is empirically investigated. Three distinct cultural responses to the incidence HIV/AIDS are analyzed in three regions of the world, such as Europe, Sub-Saharan Africa, and a Muslim area stretching from Mauritania to Pakistan.

Restriction of sexual activity as a partial function of disease avoidance: a cultural response to sexually transmitted diseases

Article Abstract:

A cross-cultural analysis of societal attitudes towards extramarital sexual relations is discussed. The authors examine the role of sexually transmitted diseases in shaping cultural values, arguing a community absent of sexually transmitted diseases have fewer taboos regarding extramarital sex and multiple sex partners.

Cross-cultural testing of intelligence

Article Abstract:

This study compares the results from cross-cultural intelligence tests of children from India and the Netherlands. The research suggests the Dutch and Indian tests are comparable with regards to reliability, difficulty, predictive validity, and psychological meaning.
