The IR&R Section at 30: miles to go before we sleep

Article Abstract:

The American Bar Association's Section of Individual Rights and Responsibilities cannot rest on its laurels after 30 successful years of challenging the bar to live up to its promises and ideals. Though it has accomplished much, battles old and new still await. Social and legal tides have again brought into question affirmative action, legal services for the poor, and many other issues, while homelessness, free speech, and more remain to be dealt with at length.

In 1992 the Ordnance Survey announced a plan to remove triangulation pillars introduced in 1935 as map-making aids, but the plan met protest. The Ordnance Survey calmed protests by announcing that anyone can adopt a pillar and be responsible for its maintenance.
