The evaluation of information campaigns to promote voluntary household water conservation

Article Abstract:

Issues related to the effectiveness of campaigns that advocate home water conservation are examined, focusing on weaknesses in the campaign and possible techniques to improve them. Topics include broad themes in campaigns, the need to use behavioral change models, mandatory and voluntary conservation programs, techniques used to evaluate water conservation programs, and the need to clearly define objectives.

Theory-based evaluation in practice: what do we learn?

Article Abstract:

Six papers on TBE, or theory-based evaluation, are analyzed in order to determine the effectiveness of TBE in identifying program flaws. The TBE approach was never completely successful in proving the theory in any of the six examples, although TBE clearly can be a useful tool.
