The memorial society option

Article Abstract:

Many people felt dissatisfied with the options readily available at the time of making death-care arrangements, which led to creation of networks to exchange information and in 1963, a nationwide coalition called the Funeral and Memorial Societies of America (FAMSA) was formed of groups in the United States and Canada. Issues of advance planning were paramount, and hot topics ranged from grief, advance directives, and simple burial, to AIDS, gifts of organs, or cadavers, and hospice care.
