The potential of older volunteers in long-term care

Middle-aged people need to be recruited as volunteers for home- and community-based care of the aged. Volunteer opportunites for elderly care must be marketed as a broad range of ways that personal skills can be used, including making a variety of incentives available.

The role of older workers in caring for older people in the future

Older workers will be a more significant part of caring for the aged than they currently are. The challenges these workers will face include their increasing health problems, the work's physical demands, pressure to retire, and alternative work opportunities.

Social work's response to the growing older population

Article Abstract:

Most social workers are not given basic practice competency in aging, and this needs to be changed. Educational institutions, research centers, and foundations need to create incentives to integrate aging content and to encourage students about this field.
