The relevance of science and technology indicators: the case of pulp and paper

Article Abstract:

Technical variety in the paper and pulp industry offer four analytical perspectives. One attests that the high standards usually associated with the Finnish industry is not evident in the p & p industry of Sweden and Finland. Also, the innovation process involved behind the Thermopulp technology cannot be considered an industry-wide movement. Another view pertains to the incorporation of old and new technologies to more advanced systems in the installation project in Braviken. Lastly, it has been shown that the industry is geared towards drastic technology changes.

Article Abstract:

Innovation methods can obtain valuable empirical data from modern product development tests conducted by industrial researchers. The knowledge acquired from these tests can be used to facilitate insight into the creation of variety in innovation processes. With respect to the generation of variety of innovations in the agrochemical sector, the process is not totally stochastic. Moreover, agrochemical innovations show that at dissimilar locales, identical inventions may arise as a result of identical research directions.
