When the rubber meets the road: Effects of urban and regional residence on principle and implementation measures of racial tolerance

Article Abstract:

An attempt is made to revisit the nexus between urbanism, regionalism and prejudice and o ensure whether racial tolerance is more pronounced among urban than non-urban residents and among non-Southerners than Southerners. It is explored whether the effect of residential location on racial tolerance changes over time.

Public categories, private identities: Exploring regional differences in the biracial experience

Article Abstract:

The geographic distribution of black-white biracial individuals through the census are revealed and compared to the geographic distribution of biracials' racial self-understandings from survey methods. It shows the multifaceted relationship between public categorization and private racial identification.

Overlapping disadvantages and the racial/ethnic graduation gap among students attending selective institutions

Article Abstract:

The way in which, the background of students studying in elite institutions in the U.S. can give rise to racial and ethnic differences, are examined. Results point out to the compounding effect of multiple disadvantages on students, graduation that are beyond the hardships taken by each background.
