A randomized evaluation of Multidimensional Treatment Foster Care: effects on school attendance and homework completion in juvenile justice girls

Article Abstract:

The efficacy of the Multidimensional Treatment Foster Care (MTFC) intervention on two behaviors that were hypothesized to relate to juvenile justice girls' engagement on school attendance and homework completion is studied. Results suggest that MTFC is more effective compared to group care in boosting girls' school attendance and homework completion.

Parent-training programs in child welfare services: Planning for a more evidence-based approach to serving biological parents

Article Abstract:

Evidence is given about the most promising programs from other child service sectors with information about the current parent training approaches in child welfare. A range of proposals about next steps to enhance the capacity of parent training is generated and fulfills the high expectations set in law and practice.

The national quality improvement center on the privatization of child welfare services: a program description

Article Abstract:

A study evaluates the work carried out by the quality improvement centers initiated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Children's Bureau. Results showed that commendable work was done but networking between states and social work professionals would increase the outreach.
