Implications of genetic epidemiology for the prevention of substance use disorders

Article Abstract:

This article examines the roles of genetics and the environment in the development of substance abuse problems and psychopathology. Findings indicate that a family history of psychopathology and substance abuse are correlated with the development of substance abuse problems and that family history is more closely related to addiction than substance use.
