Attitudes toward substance abuse treatment among probation and parole officers

Article Abstract:

This article examines the potential benefits of drug and alcohol abuse training for parole and probation officers. Topics addressed include the role of correctional personnel in substance abuse counseling for probationers, and the effectiveness of programs designed to train officers for this type of social work.

The effect of drug treatment on inmate misconduct in federal prisons

Article Abstract:

This article evaluates the Federal Bureau of Prisons' substance abuse program's effectiveness in reducing inmate misconduct. The authors maintain results demonstrate that 74% of program graduates are less likely to engage in misconduct than comparison groups.
