Defining a never-smoker: results from the nonsmokers survey

Article Abstract:

A survey consisting of sixty-nine non smokers who had smoked between 1 to 200 cigarettes in their lifetime, was conducted for confirming the United States Centers for Disease Control's definition of never-smoker, determining the difference among the nonsmokers and the extent of signs and symptoms shown by the individuals and finding out the threshold for dependence. The results suggest that a person, who has smoked less than twenty cigarettes in his life, could be considered as a nonsmoker.

Article Abstract:

The influence of smoking, initiated during college years, with regard to diet significance, temperamental build up and mood swings is observed by the Young Women's Health Survey. For non-smokers, the approach should emphasize on dietary concerns and progressive depression that can set in due to the onset of smoking, as against interventional efforts that are needed amongst smokers and alcohol consumers.
