Ethnic aspects of demographic problems in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)

Article Abstract:

This article provides the results of a demographic study of the Yakuts residing in the Republic of Sakha. The authors maintain that the birth rate of the Yakuts is declining, the mortality rate is increasing, and overall health is very poor, especially the health of young mothers and children.

The morality rate and longevity of the population in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)

Article Abstract:

Mortality rates have significantly increased in the Republic of Sakha between 1960 and 1996. Causes include respiratory diseases, digestive illnesses, accidents and murders, with the most common cause as cardiovascular diseases.

Russia's demographic future: depopulation forever?

Article Abstract:

Russia and Spain have the lowest birth rates of all industrially developed countries. If left unchecked by the end of the first third of the 21st century, Russia might experience many negative consequences of this depopulation.
