Factors in the marital relationship in a changing society: A Taiwan case study

Article Abstract:

Factors associated with marital satisfaction in the context of cultural shifts are examined. Results showed that couples in Taiwan have adopted a conjugal model rather than the traditional culture in evaluating their marital relationship and the spousal relationship has become the primary dyad in marriage, but the extended families remain influential on marital relations.

Women's contradictory roles in the community: a case study of the Community Development Project in Taiwan

Article Abstract:

This article discusses women's roles within the community in Taiwan. The author argues the Taiwanese state uses community development as a means of control and to reinforce a patriarchal system, and maintains that women today are challenging the state through the Community Development Project in which they are demanding leadership roles.

Collective outcomes and social mobilization in Chilean employment initiatives for women

The collective outcomes and social mobilization found in the Chilean women's employment initiatives is studied. The study highlights the emergence of collective endeavors, factors favoring their development and barriers to social and political development.
