Feminist theory and the world of the social

Article Abstract:

Feminist social scientists should note the suggestion in Warren Farrell's book, "The Myth of Male Power," to look toward a new discourse on gender equality for the future rather than revisit issues of the past. Though much of Farrell's book can be easily dismissed, dialogues and terminology which were once forceful and timely sound banal and have lost much of their original meaning. Changes in the world since the 1970s' wave of feminist action call for a new dialogue and terms such as 'patriarchy' should be replaced with terms which reflect modern society.

Outstanding in their field: women in agriculture

Article Abstract:

Recognition and understanding of women's roles in all aspects of agriculture is necessary in an examination of the social, cultural, and economic forces affecting the agricultural arena and its global restructuring. Worldwide, women's contributions to farming and farm life are under recognized and under valued. Feminist and social scientists can benefit from further research into the economic and social impact agricultural restructuring will have on women.
