Financing to foster community health care: a comparative analysis of Singapore, Europe, North America and Australia

Article Abstract:

This article examines the impact the aging populations of affluent countries will have on the cost of health care. The author, using Singapore's health care financing policy in which community care is emphasized, evaluates the effectiveness of community care in regards to containing costs and quality of care and argues collective communities such as Singapore will offer better community care over individualistic societies.

Internet-mediated networking and academic dependency in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and the United States

The shape of international academic networking namely, email in the field of Southeast Asian studies is examined. The effects of Internet access and communications highlight the question of whether this medium promotes broader participation in scholarship or entrenches relationships of academic dependency.

Convergence or resilience? A hierarchical cluster analysis of the welfare regimes in advanced countries

Article Abstract:

A set of quantitative social indicators is examined, using hierarchical cluster analysis in order to identify welfare regimes in Western Europe and North America. This analysis also allows to identify Canada's place in the world of welfare capitalism.
