Genetic similarity theory and the roots of ethnic conflict

Article Abstract:

The politics of ethnic identity are increasingly becoming the major threat to the stability of nations in contrast to the past when the politics of class was the predominating danger. As unending chains of people rise to ethnic self-consciousness, the world will face continuing upheavals. Ethnic identity appears to be based on genetic similarity. The Genetic Similarity Theory rather than the Culture Theory is proposed as a psychologic explanation to culture conflicts between, for instance, the Blacks/Whites (US), Tutsis/Hutus (Rwanda), Hindus/Muslims (India) and Croats/Serbs (Yugoslavia).

Conflicts of American immigrants: assimilate or retain ethnic identity

Article Abstract:

Immigrants to the US face numerous challenges as they struggle to assimilate into American society while trying to retain their cultural and ethnic identity. These immigrants have been the victims of many racially based riots, police brutality and looting of their businesses by locals. The dominant society also has many biases that make it difficult for immigrants to be accepted into the economic, political and social structure. However, technological innovations such as telephone and e-mail have eased the process of retaining their ethnic identity as they adjust to the mainstream.

Intelligence, income and ethnic identity in the United States

Article Abstract:

Statistics show that Jews have the highest average earnings, IQs and occupational achievement among the different US ethnic groups. The Chinese and Japanese also performed well in these categories while Hispanics and African-Americans performed very poorly. Since Hispanics and blacks combined will become a majority by the year 2050, it appears that the level of intelligence, earnings and the achievements of the US as a nation will steadily deteriorate.
