Infant simulator lifespace intervention: pilot investigation of an adolescent pregnancy prevention program

Article Abstract:

Researchers examined the impact of an infant simulator experience on adolescent notions of parenthood. Researchers gave infant simulator dolls to six adolescent volunteers for a three-day period, and assessed the effectiveness of the intervention through questionnaires given before and after the intervention, and to non-intervention groups. The parenting experience produced significantly more realistic notions of parenting, and also had a positive impact on classmates. The researchers indicate the need for further study into the effectiveness of pregnancy prevention programs in preventing adolescent pregnancy.
