Living alone in old age: institutionalized discourse and women's knowledge

Article Abstract:

An attempt made to examine the social organizing practices of living alone is presented through an analysis of the gender, and class relations in the institute of housing, using institutional ethnography. Sociology for elderly women living alone is provided through an explication of the social relations in which this manner of living is embedded.

Quantitative indicators of corporatism

Article Abstract:

The corporatism consists of various types of institutional arrangements whereby the political-economic decisions are made via negotiations between the peak level representatives of employers and employees. Forty-two prominent indicators of corporatism that are suggested are compared and the correlations among them are examined.

Food security and comparative sociology: research, theories, and concepts

Article Abstract:

The role of the comparative sociological perspectives for explaining food security is examined. The measures and constructs for food security and its determinants show how sociology can contribute to the understanding of the sociopolitical roots of hunger.
