L'observation, un resume de la "realite": de quelques problemes epistemologiques du recueil et du traitement des donnees

Article Abstract:

Observation is a process of reducing reality to its essential dimensions through the choice and treatment of facts. In sociology, epistemological questions arise concerning the objective or subjective nature of the social world observed and the implications of the personal equation of the observer. However, all selection of information involves social processes, requiring a sociology of knowledge. The choice of hypothetico-deductive epistemics, reconstruction of the subjects' knowledge or data analysis depends on the circumstances of observation. Article text is in French.

The fall of the 'Angelus Novus': beyond the modern game of roots and options

Article Abstract:

The focus of sociology should be redirected to examining the duality between action-with-clinamen and conformist action. Unlike the angel in the painting 'Angelus Novus' with its back towards the future, sociologists should instead build a new methodology based on destabilizing images and interrogations resulting from the supersession of present-day options and roots.

Feminist methodology

Article Abstract:

There is a need in feminist methodology for non-sexist research methods and a simplified consideration of feminism emphasizing improved status for women. Feminist scholars are divided on issues concerning epistemology, ontology, research methods and related issues. Most scholarship however, remains in opposition to standard or mainstream academic methodology.
