"Lost childhood"--lessons from the Holocaust: implications for adult adjustment

Article Abstract:

The authors describe the psychological complications of the trauma suffered by those children who survived the Holocaust, including their social and psychological dysfunction, their coping strategies and their difficulty with adaptability. Social workers are offered some clinical methods of treatment, for prevention of further suffering and for psychotherapeutic intervention, to be used in cases of severe childhood trauma.

]The relationship between parent and child reports of parental supportiveness and psychopathology of sexually abused children

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to determine the effects of non-offender parents' supportiveness to the psychopathology of intrafamilially sexually abused children. Results show that children who have been victims of incest have difficulties in daily functioning and are sad, worried and traumatized. Despite emotional support given by non-offender parents, these children manifest a high degree of mental functioning impairment.
