Mexican sociology: contradictory influences

Article Abstract:

Mexican sociology has gained ground through the influence of European and American sociology. However, earlier works which were inspired by American and European sociological perspectives seem to diminish the dynamics of social and political change. In contrast, recent materials reveal the capability of some parts of Mexican sociology to restore the dynamics of social and political change. Mexican sociology remains as a spectator of the arguments and discussions by scholars who do not have adequate knowledge of conditions in the country.

European theory in Brazilian sociology

Article Abstract:

Theories introduced by European nations have shaped the sociology of Brazil. Philosophical and social sciences have also influenced and molded contemporary Brazilian sociology. These theories are aimed at understanding the deep meaning of the extraordinary recurrences of inequality and violence in Brazilian society. Despite such recurrences, Brazilian society has the capability to create events and resources to alter the current status of society.
