Deep structures: polpop culture on primetime television
Article Abstract:
The most seemingly apolitical American television programs have political messages in them which reflect, and to some extent influence, political culture. A study of three political culture types reveals the prominent symptoms of individualistic culture in mass television programs, although with the presence of successful domineering authority figures. The individualistic/traditionalistic presentation of paired culture in TV programming influences the attitudes, values and world views of regular television viewers.

"A gaudy posy for the popular soul": recovering Australia's early popular recording stars
Article Abstract:
There is a survival rate of almost 90% for sound recordings made by Australian artists in the early years of the 20th century. However, researchers are only just starting to look at the lives and careers of these artists. Research in this area has focused on Florrie Forde, who first came to public attention as a music hall performer in the late 1890s and died in 1940, and Billy Williams, who died prematurely in 1915 after having become internationally famous.
