Predictors of smoking intentions and smoking status among nonsmoking and smoking adolescents

Article Abstract:

Adolescents in the age group of twelve to eighteen years were asked to complete a questionnaire, which would help in investigating the predictors of smoking intentions amongst the adolescents who were non smokers and identifying the risk factors related to smoking status. Predictors may include parental smoking, rebellious nature, peer influences and lack of knowledge.

Smoking differences among African American, Hispanic and White middle students in an urban setting

Article Abstract:

It was observed that African American adolescents were less likely to smoke as compared to the white and Hispanic adolescents. Once the smoking inhibitors in the African American youth are understood, the same message could be targeted at the white and Hispanic youth as well.

Reactivity to smoking cues in adolescent cigarette smokers

Article Abstract:

A study analyses the manner in which adolescents, both smokers and non-smokers, react when subtle hints are made towards smoking. The examination concludes that adolescent smokers react quite similarly to adult smokers with lesser robust effects.
