Psychiatric diagnosis under conditions of uncertainty: personality disorder, science and professional legitimacy

Article Abstract:

An overview is presented on personality disorders and personality assessment within the framework of scientific methodology. Because personality disorders are primarily diagnosed through an individual's behavior rather than through his or her mental processes, the field remains a controversial one in the psychiatric profession.

A phenomenology of fear: Merleau-Ponty and agoraphobic life-worlds

Article Abstract:

An analysis is presented on Maurice Merleau-Ponty's theory of lived and objective space as it applies to agoraphobia, or fear of open places. It is posited that treating agoraphobia requires the acknowledgement of the effect individuals produce on the spaces they occupy; a case study is also included.

A study examining the factors that have influenced the changes in workforce of healthcare sector is presented. It is observed that quite often, its consumer preferences rather than profession-led services that have affected the workforce.
