Quality of life in Saskatoon 1991 and 1996: a geographical perspective

Article Abstract:

City planners as well as those in the construction business have always laid great emphasis on the quality of life concept, as this is one of the main reasons for the prosperity of a city or town. A study was conducted to evaluate the quality of life in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan by using a rage of indicators relating to the social and physical environment.

Grounding hierarchies of acceptance: the social construction of disability in NIMBY conflicts

Article Abstract:

A model is presented mapping factors which influence public opinion toward disabled persons, using a structure based on hierarchies of acceptance. The model clarifies the NIMBY, or not-in-my-backyard, response toward issues such as special needs housing, alcohol and drug treatment centers, and homelessness.

Religious diversity across the North American urban system

Article Abstract:

The spatiality of religious diversity in the United States and Canada is discussed, especially as it varies across their respective urban systems. The study shows that religious diversity increases steadily with city size.
