Regional civil servants: composition and social characteristics

Article Abstract:

Issues related to the professonal qualifications and sociodemographic aspects of Russia's regional civil servants are examined. Topics include the categorization of civil servants by gender, age, and education; the somewhat alarming tendency for a relative few to come from an economic background; the relative large representation of those in engineering and humanities; and the need to encourage the democratic aspects of civil service.

Attitudes of the public and civil servants toward today's law and order

Article Abstract:

The conceptual proposition that in a democratic society the justice system created to enforce the laws should be imbued with the spirit and ideology of democracy is analyzed with respect for dignity of the individual. Survey findings indicate that among the priorities of life and value, the most urgent sore points are the low standard of living, and safety of citizens.

The professional culture of the Civil Service

Issues concerning the moral responsibility of civil servants are examined, focusing on the results of a survey conducted with civil servants. Topics include democratic attitudes among civil servants, work satisfaction, and the value civil servants place upon job privileges.
