Risk factors for suicide attempts among low-income women with a history of alcohol problems

Article Abstract:

It is important to use multivariate frameworks when attempting to identify risk factors for suicidal behaviour, according to research investigating whether risk factors such as childhood trauma and involvement in abusive relationships are connected to suicide attempt status among low-income women with a history of alcohol problems. It was established that eight of nine factors were significant at the bivariate level, but only interpersonal loss, hopelessness and childhood trauma were still significant when the factors were investigated simultaneously in a multivariate model.

Predictors for altering caffeine consumption during stress

Article Abstract:

Many people tend to increase their intake of caffeine consumption during periods of relatively high stress, and appear to do so for the psychological effects of the drug. A three-part questionnaire examined the demographic aspects, caffeine use patterns and reasons for use for 182 females and 106 males in the age group 9 to 59 years. Half reported an increase in caffeine consumption during periods of stress.
