Seeing is believing: exposure to counterstereotypic women leaders and its effect on the malleability of automatic gender stereotyping

Article Abstract:

The undermining of people's automatic stereotypic beliefs about a particular social group by exposure to counter stereotypic members of that group is examined. The influence of conterstereotypic situational cues on the malleability of automatic stereotyping is proposed to be a continuous one rather than a categorical effect.

Targets of discrimination: effects of race on responses to weapons holders

Article Abstract:

Using desktop virtual reality, rapid actions to persons holding weapons were simulated. A study conducted on this issue using signal detection analysis revealed both White and Black people effects, which led to Black being incorrectly, shot at more than Whites.

Automatic preference for white Americans: eliminating the familiarity explanation

Article Abstract:

Issues are discussed regarding stimulus familiarity not exercising a compromising effect on automatic race associations, which strengthens the conclusion that the implicit association test measures automatic evaluative associations.
