Article Abstract:

The Singapore government is investing more than $2 billion into research hoping to attract leaders in therapeutic cloning, drug discovery, cancer research and other areas of bioscience in order to bolster the economy. In exchange for funding, the researchers are required to become on-call consultants and work with local scientists on various problems.
