Size, consistenc, and stability of stage effects for smoking cessation

Article Abstract:

The study reveals that in the transtheoretical model (TTM), the stage effect is one of the most important determinants of health behavior change. The results indicate that brief stage-matched interventions that help populations progress one stage could produce 75% more abstinence and the interventions that help populations progress two stages could produce 300% more abstinence.
