Strangers asking strange questions? A methodological narrative of researching belonging and identity in English rural communities

Article Abstract:

A project that examines the nature of the relationship between the contemporary English countryside and the 'rurally included' by which it means those rural populations who can appear to make a confident, dominant and a seemingly uncontested claim to rural belonging is illustrated. The project has addressed the process by which rurality and Englishness mutually constitute each other but without making any direct reference to otherness.
