The academy under siege: an outline of problems and strategies

Article Abstract:

The 1990s has witnessed several problems being visited upon the academy. To address these problems, the faculty may establish partnerships with professional groups, students and lawmakers. By publicizing the problems facing the academe and providing help through official reports and provision of legal aid, professional organizations could serve the interests of the academe. On the other hand, students' support could come in the form of organization of voter registration campaigns in favor of higher education. Meanwhile, the legislature could help by passing laws that will further boost higher education.
