The capital cities and the provinces: Images and the possibilities for self-realization

Article Abstract:

A comparison of the images of Moscow and the provinces reveals that there is a kind of 'line of tension' that runs through the basic contradiction in today's Russian society between the rich and the poor. Inspite of this variation, it is cannot be said that there are great gaps that would provide reason to assert an opposition between 'two Russias' that of the capital cities and that of the provinces.

Social stratification and poverty in the regions of Russia: (toward the compilation of a sociocultural portrait of the regions)

Article Abstract:

The social stratification of the population of various regions is studied in terms of income and property. Results concluded that the Russia has the highest level of stratification of all of the former socialist countries and there is a need to work out an appropriate social policy in the region.

Social strata in Russia: An experiment in cluster analysis

The emerging social structure of Russian society represented by three major strata namely the wealthy, the poor and the medium well-off is presented on the basis of each individual's self-identification with regard to ten hierarchical levels.
