The perversity of inanimate objects: Stimulus control by incidental musical notation

Article Abstract:

The implications of the incidental stimuli resembling musical notation for models of action production and for social-cognitive concepts regarding the limits of nonconscious processing are discussed. Cascade and serial models have accounted for most priming effects, but only cascade models have accounted for the unintended actions, thus indicating that activation flows blindly from one level of processing to the next regardless of whether processing is completed in the previous stages.
