The relationship between smoker and nonsmoker prototypes and smoking status among 14-year-old Norwegians

Article Abstract:

A study is carried out to investigate dimensionality in a set of 12 characteristics used to describe a typical girl who smokes, and a typical boy who smokes, and a typical nonsmoker having a representative sample of Norwegian pupils. The nonsmoker prototype could represent a goal state for nonsmokers when based on all three subscales that is Social attraction, Positive and Negative but for smokers the prototypical smoker only represented a goal state for the Social attraction scale.

Predicting children's level of exposure to environmental tobacco smoke based on two national surveys in Norway in 1995 and 2001

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted in order to explore the predictive power of four predictors in accounting for level of children's exposure to environmental tobacco smoking (ETS) as reported by parents. The results from this study suggest a shift in intervention strategy from a focus on structural to individualized strategies.
