The relationship of proximal normative beliefs and global subjective norms to college students' alcohol consumption

Article Abstract:

The normative beliefs about important referent individuals that would mediate the relationship between campus social norms and alcohol consumption are theorized. Normative beliefs are an important construct in understanding the relationship between social norms and alcohol use among college students and might be an important area for future interventions.

Measuring public opinion on alcohol policy: a factor analytic study of a US probability sample

This article examines adult attitudes regarding alcohol policies designed to reduce underage alcohol use. The authors maintain public opinion reflects genuine concern and interest regarding underage drinking and support of alcohol policies.
