Trade-offs in choice between risk and delay depend on monetary amounts

Article Abstract:

Two experiments were conducted to study the factors involved in decision making. They were participated in by 25 and 48 college students who were made to choose between hypothetical money amounts. Part A choices included big amounts that came with risk and small amounts that came with certainty while part B choices included delayed big amounts and immediate small amounts. Part C choices included delayed amounts and risky amounts. Results suggest that delays in the receipt of a desired amount and the risk of not getting any amount at all both play important roles in decision making.

Dynamical concurrent schedules

Article Abstract:

Concurrent variable-interval schedules that changed continuously across a 5-min trial are investigated. Dynamical concurrent schedule shifted behaviour in the direction of matching response ratios to reinforcer ratios concluding that choice behaviour can adapt reinforcer ratios.

Risk-sensitive choice in humans as a function of an earnings budget

Article Abstract:

Risk-taking behavior research about energy-budget variables demonstrates patterns correlating to choices that do not involve immediate survival concerns. When studied under similar experimental conditions, risky choice in humans appears similar to that shown by non-humans.
