Truancy and illicit drug use among adolescents surveyed via street outreach
Article Abstract:
The association that links truancy and drug-related experiences among adolescents that are surveyed through a street outreach program is described. Further to holding many psychological environmental factors and use of readily available substance it is suggested that there might be reciprocal relationships operating between illicit drug use and truancy.

Perceived academic performance and alcohol, tobacco and marijuana use: Longitudinal relationships in young community adolescents
Article Abstract:
The longitudinal relationships between perception of academic performance (PAP) and alcohol, tobacco and marijuana use at age of 13 and 15 are studied. Interventions to maintain or improve academic self-esteem in early adolescence might reduce risks for accelerating substance use in mid-adolescence.
